Oracle VM Virtual Appliance for EBS 12.2

Oracle is pleased to announce that a new VM Virtual Appliance, which contains Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) Release 12.2.12 and Oracle Database 19c, can now be downloaded from the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud.

You can use this on-premises appliance to create an EBS 12.2.12 Vision demonstration instance on a single, unified virtual machine running both the application tier and database tier services.

Use with Oracle VM Manager or Oracle VM VirtualBox

This virtual appliance can be imported into Oracle VM Manager to deploy an EBS Linux 64-bit environment on compatible server-class machines running Oracle VM Server. It can also be imported into Oracle VM VirtualBox to create a virtual machine on a desktop PC or laptop.

Note: This virtual appliance is for on-premises use only. If you’re interested in running EBS on Oracle Cloud, see Getting Started with Oracle E-Business Suite on Oracle Cloud (MOS Note 2066260.1) and our sister blog Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle Cloud for more information.

EBS Technology Stack

The EBS 12.2.12 VM virtual appliance delivers the full software stack, including the Oracle Linux 7.9 (64-bit) operating system, EBS, and additional required technology components.

The embedded technology components and their versions are listed in the table below:

Technology Component Version (and associated MOS Doc ID if applicable)
RDBMS Oracle Home Oracle Database 19c (19.18 RU)
Application Code Level
Oracle Forms and Reports
Oracle WebLogic Server
Web Tier

JRE (1) Oracle Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 8 Update 361
Critical Patch Update (CPU)

Note:  You should update to the latest CPUs for EBS and the technology stack components on a quarterly basis.  See the following for the latest EBS CPU documentation:

(1) Java Web Start is enabled by default on this appliance. Refer to Using Java Web Start with Oracle E-Business Suite (MOS Note 2188898.1) for information about the use of Java Web Start with EBS.

REST Services Availability

With Oracle VM Virtual Appliance for EBS 12.2.12, the required setup tasks for enabling EBS REST services provided through EBS Integrated SOA Gateway are already preconfigured. This means that EBS integration interface definitions published in Oracle Integration Repository, a component in EBS Integrated SOA Gateway, are available for REST service deployment.

Note that PL/SQL APIs, Java Bean Services, Application Module Services, Business Service Objects, Open Interface Tables and Views, and Concurrent Programs are all REST-enabled in this VM virtual appliance.
